

Abstract Guidelines
We warmly invite you to submit your abstract for ISW 2026. Kindly follow the guidelines below to ensure your submission is complete and considered for presentation.
General Submission Instructions

Deadline: All abstracts must be submitted online by 8 August 2025 at 23:59 CEST. Late submissions will not be accepted.

Submission Platform: Abstracts must be submitted via the official congress website: www.isw2026.org. Submissions via fax, postal mail, or email will not be accepted.

Confirmation of Acceptance: Notification regarding acceptance will be sent to the Presenting Author by 31 October 2025.

Registration Requirement: To ensure inclusion in the final program, the Presenting Author must be registered and the registration fee paid by 30 November 2025.

Language & Length: Abstracts must be written in English and limited to 250 words. Abstracts in Spanish will only be accepted under Category 2: Digestive Surgery (organized by AMCE).

Structure: Abstracts should follow the structure:
Introduction – Material & Methods – Results – Conclusion
Tables or images may be uploaded in .pdf, .png, .jpg, or .jpeg formats. -
Originality: Abstracts must include at least 50% new data if they have been previously published or presented.

Change of Presenter: Changes to the Presenting Author after acceptance are only possible with a written request and approval by the Scientific Program Committee.

Presentation Details: The date and time of your presentation will be shared with the Presenting Author by the end of January 2026 and posted on www.isw2026.org.

Author Information: The Presenting Author’s name must match the one used in the official Congress Registration Form.

Communication: All correspondence regarding your abstract will be sent to the Presenting Author's registered email address.

Oral only

Oral or Poster

Poster Exhibition only

Poster with Discussion

Video Presentation
Each abstract may only be presented in one format.

Disclosure: All Presenting Authors must disclose any financial, commercial, or research-related conflicts of interest.

Copyright: Upon submission, all abstracts become the property of the International Society of Surgery (ISS/SIC), granting permission for duplication, publication, and distribution.
Video Presentations
For authors submitting videos, the following specific guidelines apply:

Abstracts for videos must be submitted through the standard abstract submission system.

Video files must be uploaded via a designated Vimeo platform link (details provided after abstract submission).

Videos must not exceed 5 minutes in length.
-
Accepted format: MP4, maximum file size 600 MB.
-
Narration must be in English or Spanish for AMCE submissions under Category 2.
-
Ensure all required consents from surgeons and patients are obtained.

Any conflicts of interest must be disclosed at the beginning of the video.
-
The designated video presenter must register for the congress and attend the video session and post-presentation Q&A.
Prize Submissions
BSI Free Paper Prize
-
The Presenting Author must be registered by 30 November 2025.
-
A full-length manuscript in the World Journal of Surgery (WJS) format must be submitted by 30 November 2025.
ISDS Grassi & Kitajima Prize
-
Lead author must be 40 years old or younger.
-
At least one author must be a member of ISDS.
-
The Presenting Author must register by 30 November 2025.
-
Full manuscript submission to WJS is also due by 30 November 2025.
