General Information

ATM / Cash Machines

ATMs are available within walking distance of the Camino Real Polanco hotel and venue. You can find machines at nearby banks, convenience stores, and shopping areas. Most machines accept international cards. Please note that some smaller shops and restaurants may prefer cash, so it’s good to have some pesos on hand.

Badges & Entry Tickets

For security reasons, your name badge must be worn at all times within the congress venue. This badge gives you access to scientific sessions and official social events.

In addition, a special entry ticket is required for:

  • Mexico City Night

  • Integrated Society Dinners

Banks & Currency Exchange

Most major stores and restaurants in Mexico City accept credit and debit cards. Digital wallets (like Apple Pay or Google Pay) are also gaining popularity. However, having some Mexican pesos is recommended for smaller purchases, taxis, and street vendors.

Banks are usually open Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Currency exchange is available at the airport, some hotels, and exchange kiosks in tourist areas.

Certificate of Attendance

Participants will be able to download the Certificate of Attendance from the registration platform at https://www.iss-sic.com/dashboard after the congress.

Climate

In April, Mexico City has pleasant spring weather. Expect daytime highs of 22–26°C (72–79°F) and cooler evenings around 12–14°C (53–57°F). Occasional light rain is possible.

Clothing

Dress comfortably but respectfully. In religious or conservative settings, modest attire is appreciated. For the congress, business attire is recommended during scientific sessions, while smart casual is suitable for social events.

Coffee and Tea Refreshments

Complimentary coffee, tea, and light refreshments will be provided during scheduled breaks.

Congress Language

The official language of ISW 2026 is English. No simultaneous translation will be provided. The local language is Spanish.

Currency

The local currency is the Mexican Peso (MXN). Both coins and bills are in circulation.

Electricity

Mexico uses type A and B power outlets, with a voltage of 127V and a frequency of 60Hz. You may need an adapter depending on your home country.

Exhibition

A trade exhibition will run throughout the congress featuring companies and organizations in surgical innovation and research.

  • Monday to Thursday, 09:00 – 17:00

Insurance & Liability

We strongly recommend that all participants arrange for travel, health, and accident insurance before their trip. ISW 2026 organizers are not liable for any injuries, loss, or damage to personal belongings. In the event of a cancellation of the congress, the organizers cannot reimburse the registration fee.

Internet Connectivity (WIFI)

Free WIFI will be available at the venue. Connection details will be provided at registration.

Local Laws & Culture

Please respect local customs and laws. Mexico is culturally diverse and welcoming, but modest dress and respectful behavior are encouraged, especially in religious or historic sites.

Local Transportation

Mexico City offers buses, metro, and ride-sharing services Taxis are also available, but it is highly recommended to use Uber, Didi, or
hotel-authorized cabs for safety.
 

Metro fare: Approx. 5 MXN per ride

Photographing and Recording

Photography or recording during sessions is not allowed without prior permission. Official congress photographers may capture images. By attending, you consent to being photographed or recorded for congress-related use.

Program Changes

Any changes to the program will be communicated via the official ISW 2026 website and mobile app (details to come).

Registration Desk Hours

To be confirmed closer to the event, but expected to follow a similar schedule:

  • Sunday (Pre-congress): 15:00 – 18:00

  • Monday to Thursday: 07:00 – 17:00
     

Smoking

Smoking is allowed only in designated smoking areas outside the venue. Mexico has strict anti-smoking regulations in public spaces.

Speakers’ Preview Room

All speakers must visit the Preview Room to upload and test their presentations at least one day before their session or two hours in advance.

Taxis

Use taxi apps for safe and transparent pricing. Taxis hailed on the street may not accept card payments. Always confirm the fare before starting your trip.
 

Time Zone

Mexico City is in the Central Standard Time Zone (UTC -6).
 

Tipping

Tipping is customary in Mexico. A 10–15% tip is appreciated in restaurants and for other services unless a service charge is already included.
 

Mobile Phones

Please switch your phone to silent mode during scientific sessions to avoid disruptions.
 

Travel Requirements

Please check visa and entry requirements for Mexico in advance. You are responsible for ensuring all travel documents, visas, and health records are valid.

Water

It is not recommended to drink tap water in Mexico City. Bottled water is widely available and preferred.
